Khilen Patel

Deputy Secretary General

Before I was lucky enough be a part of this blossoming programme, everyone around me had a goal to join MUN and everyone expected me to join MUN so I just followed the river of people not knowing to what to expect. In my first year that I applied I was not chosen as a delegate to represent my school, this did not come as a shock because I was still a shy boy who had no aspirations and no knowledge of what I had applied for; I just followed the crowd blindly. This taught me an important lesson that if we fuel our journey on the opinions of others, we are going to run out of gas. Today I can proudly say that I have reached the brim of what I want to accomplish in MUN. As long as you have air in your lungs and determination in your mind, then you have access to endless possibilities. Never limit yourself to what you have achieved; don't let fear stop you from implementing your ingenious ideas as if we hide in the corner we will be doing a great injustice to ourselves and those around us. We will be murdering all the creative and innovative ideas that are going to make a significant difference in our generation. You- the youth- are a beacon of hope to those suffering in the streets and slums of Kenya; nurture your skills, allow your excellence to grow and manifest into the best version of you where kindness and compassion are a key attribute to your personality. Allow yourself to fall, hit rock bottom but just know from that point, there is only one way back and that is UP. If you cannot fly, run, if you cannot run, walk, if you cannot walk then crawl, but always remember to keep moving forward.
